my impressions, as a succession of scents during the burn
grapefruit volatiles. spun sugar. attic of old paperbacks. sun on skin. high note crescendo. dusk + creamsicle + campfire. blackbird makes complex (and only sometimes complicated) incense. it's an experience, an olfactory adventure.
The first time I smelled this I was captivated. I felt like I couldn’t inhale deep enough and wanted to take this scent in more than my lungs were capable of.
I was at a friend’s house and immediately Googled the company and signed up for the incense of the month club! I figured if Poppy was that enticing then they all must be intoxicating in their own way. Can’t wait for my first package. Perhaps it’ll be Poppy (!?!) If not, I’m okay with delayed gratification. Plus I know whatever they send will be stellar.
I just got poppy as part of my monthly subscription which I have much enjoyed thus far. But, I have to admit I was a little disappointed when I got one of the florals this time. The primary reason I signed up with Blackbird was to get away from the 'usual' incenses. But this lovely pink surprise is a more muted, almost ethereal modern mix of florals. As I write, the scent is filling the space around me and I am beyond delighted to sit here typing away as it works to dissipate the Monday blues.
